McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has applied its special touch to a McLaren 570S Coupe for the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Resplendent in Mauvine Blue paintwork – that’s purple, to you and I – it will be the first opportunity for many to see McLaren’s first Sports Series model in the metal.
For MSO, Pebble Beach is an opportunity to showcase the wide range of individualisation options it offers for the new model.
Unique touches include that special coat of paint, with colour-coordinated elements inside the Carbon Black leather interior, with mauvine blue Alcantara on the steering wheel and centre inserts in the seats, and matching stitching throughout the cabin.
MSO itself was officially launched at Pebble Beach back in 2011, joining other high-end carmakers in offering bespoke personalisation options to add an extra dash of exclusivity for customers.
That said, the service itself dates back much further, growing from the McLaren Customer Care Program that originated from the McLaren F1 road car.
In addition to personalisation, MSO and MSO heritage can offer routine maintenance, scheduled servicing and carry out retrims and repainting for owners of existing cars.
In addition to the purple 570S, MSO will also exhibit a Ventura Orange car on Pebble Beach’s Concept Lawn.
Two Super Series models – a 675LT and 650S Le Mans – will also be on display. The latter is another MSO creation, celebrating twenty years since McLaren’s victory at Circuit de la Sarthe with the F1 GTR. Several features on the car echo that original winner, while McLaren Orange paintwork pays homage to Bruce McLaren’s 1960s racers.
A McLaren F1 GTR will itself be present at Pebble Beach. On loan from BMW North America, chassis #17R finished eighth in the 1996 Le Mans 24 Hours, run by Team Bigazzi.
The 2015 Concours d’Elegance takes place at Pebble Beach in Monterey, California, on Sunday August 16.
